Ezone: Debut of Local Epidemic Prevention Smart Robot to Identify Potential Patients by Moving around

The robot is separated into several structures and can be moved to various locations to detect the body temperatures of different people. At the same time, it comes with a sensor which prevents itself from knocking over pedestrians and obstacles. Inside the trunk are the AI host, electric circuits, and batteries. Complemented with the 4K and thermal imaging lens at the top, the robot can accurately recognize human faces even when they are wearing masks. If the robot detects a person with abnormal temperature, it will keep a record of the image and issue alert to remind related staff to pay attention.

With the ongoing novel coronavirus (COVID-19), one of the main difficulties humans have to face is the high contagiousness of this disease. Technology may be of assistance to this issue.  Local technology enterprise Roborn recently developed an “Epidemic Prevention Robot”. Its major characteristics include detecting body temperature, high agility, and identifying potential patients more easily.

  • The robot can move to various locations and detect body temperature of different people using AI technology
  • The robot will gradually commence service.
The robot uses 4K and thermal imaging lens to target at forehead accurately for temperature measurement.

Cases of novel coronavirus began to emerge at the end of last year and worsened around the beginning of this year’s Lunar New Year. It is also when the Roborn team began to develop this robot. In the end, it only took them 15 days to complete most of the robot. The robot we see now is a combination of AI, deep learning, IoT, and robot technology etc.

The robot can still facilitate temperature measurement and human recognition despite wearing masks.

With AI technology, we can avoid the alarm being set off by mistake due to just high temperatures.

Apart form alleviating the staff’s burden, another advantage of using the robot is that it can reduce close contact between humans, thus lowering the chance of transmission. At present, the robot is under production, and there may be a chance for us to witness its true form in the next one or two weeks.

The robot has been tested on-site and will gradually commence service.
