Hong Kong based technology company, Roborn, has recently developed a new epidemic prevention robot in just 15 days in response to the epidemic situation. It can move to different locations to detect the temperature of different people. If the robot finds anyone with abnormal body temperature, it will immediately signal alarm to notify the health staff to pay attention and take action.
Face Recognition to Track people in Close Contact with
Compared to manual body temperature measurement, Roborn said the Epidemic Prevention Smart Robot with its own 5G AIR PEP system, together with AI, IoT, and robotics technology, can reach specific locations for detecting and monitoring at critical times as needed, and has a higher degree of flexibility. 5G technology also makes image transmission more convenient, so that users can receive accurate information immediately.
In addition to body temperature measurement, the 5G Epidemic Prevention Smart Robot also has a face recognition function, which allows it to identify people with abnormal body temperature and those who have been in close contact with them, so that the staff can track the spread of the virus. Moreover, the robot’s screen can display epidemic prevention information and knowledge to the public, such as general epidemic prevention measures to people with normal temperature; in case of detecting somebody with abnormal temperature, the robot will show measures to be taken for the suspected patient . The Co-founder, Mark Mak, said that they intend to add more new functions to the robots, such as drug distribution and precision disinfection, which is still in the research stage.

Mark pointed out that completing the entire R & D process within 15 days was very challenging. The entire team spent three times than their usual working hours and worked 21 hours a day to get it done. .
