Roborn advocates TechanizationTM, aiming to help humans live better with robots application, such as by taking up dangerous jobs for humans.
The current outbreak of infections with a novel type of coronavirus has sparked global anxiety and concern, where now body temperature measurement is a “designated action” at immigration, hospitals or quarantine areas. The novel coronavirus is spreading fast and the workload of front-line medical staff is increasing and they are under great pressure mentally and physically. Meanwhile, the fixed infrared body temperature detection device currently available in the market lacks flexibility and may be easy to fail in conducting accurate monitoring though identifying the target at key places or moments, which is difficult to effectively prevent human-to-human transmission and prevent outbreaks among our community.
Since the first day of CNY, the roborn team including 6 professors and phDs has spent only 15 days nonstop on the development of this 5G Epidemic Prevention Smart Robot (PEP, Professor Epidemic Prevention) , to make use of AI robotics technology in helping take up routine tasks that must be done but are susceptible to infection and currently requiring manual work, such as 1) routine temperature check, 2) instant notification, 3) dissemination of epidemic prevention knowledge, 4) when necessary, assist in tracking fever patient, and finding and reminding people who are in close contact with that patient, 5) facilitate surveillance and deployment, so as to protect frontline personnel and ease their pressure, and improve the quality of epidemic prevention for the general public.
On 8 Feb 2020 (the Lantern Festival) , Hong Kong TVB News conducted a special interview with the Roborn team on the 5G Epidemic Prevention Smart Robot.
According to the interview by TVB News, in addition to Wi-Fi and 4G, Roborn Epidemic Prevention Smart Robot is also compatible with 5G networks. Through the body temperature detector on the robot, once a body temperature abnormality is found, an alarm will be issued immediately by the robot to notify the medical staff to identify and track the fever patient. It also helps disseminate epidemic prevention information. Compared with the fixed infrared body temperature detecting devices, Roborn 5G Epidemic Prevention Smart Robot can patrol in different places at different times, and then perform precise monitoring at that location based on clients’ specific requirement, which can efficiently collect data and conduct detection for more effective epidemic prevention. The robot can help identify a person with abnormal body temperature as well as assist in finding people who are suspected of having been contacted by that person.
The Roborn 5G Epidemic Prevention Smart Robot is currently in the final test phase and is expected to be in market within a few days. The team hopes that in the future, in addition to hospitals, it can also be used in airports, cruise ships and large buildings such as shopping malls where flexible deployment is needed. Such epidemic prevention deployment is expected to become the regular practice in epidemic prevention afterwards.
